 Enhanced User Safety

Due to the presence of formalin for biospecimen fixation, it is critical to perform grossing in a safe environment that eliminates operator exposure. UltraGROSS provides a formalin-free working area by utilizing a horizontally sliding safety shield with a 30° angled front, combined with powerful downdraft and backdraft exhaust systems. User safety is also ensured through VIROCLEAN® automatic bio-decontamination system. Designed from the ground up, UltraGROSS is fully compliant with the highest safety standards and international norms (EN 12469:2000 Annex C; EN 14175-3:2019).

 Macro Digital Documentation

Documentation and traceability are paramount in any modern laboratory, and UltraGROSS meets these requirements with its state-of-the-art digital macro documentation system, MacroPATH. This advanced tool allows operators to thoroughly document the grossing process, providing pathologists with critical data for evaluation during diagnosis and to create high-quality diagnostic reports and tumor boards.
 

 Optimal Ergonomics

Operator comfort plays a critical role in the laboratory workflow and has a direct impact on overall efficiency. UltraGROSS incorporates premium ergonomic features tailored to the operator’s habits and needs. The 30° frontal sliding shield provides the operator with enhanced sample visibility, effectively eliminating the common obstructions associated with traditional grossing stations. The working height can be easily adjusted from the smart user interface, where all settings are conveniently accessible. UltraGROSS is also equipped with an advanced presence sensor that monitors the operator’s presence and automatically switches the filters and the ventilation system on/off. In addition, UltraGROSS can be quickly moved and repositioned as it has built-in heavy-duty casters with locking brakes, and it offers quick connections for water, power, exhaust and Ethernet. Moreover, UltraGROSS complies with the following norms: EN ISO 5349-1:2004, EN ISO 5349-2:2015, EN ISO 14738:2008.

 Advanced Tracking and Monitoring

UltraGROSS seamlessly integrates with MileWATCH, an advanced tracking and monitoring tool for Milestone units. This integration first enables specimen tracking by capturing and storing comprehensive digital documentation (including images, video, and voice notes) throughout MacroPATH during grossing. MileWATCH also continuously monitors the proper functioning of the unit, notifying the operator of filter status, formalin levels in the tanks and shield position. This proactive approach allows for timely intervention and ensures complete control of the system. 

 Protection Against Bio-Contamination

VIROCLEAN EASY is an innovative system that ensures efficient decontamination of the grossing area by nebulizing the disinfectant detergent SUPRASPOR. SUPRASPOR is a ready-to-use hydro-alcoholic solution that secures biocidal proprieties on a broad spectrum, given the presence of hydrogen peroxide in association with alcohol. VIROCLEAN EASY seamlessly integrates with the UltraGROSS, automating the decontamination process that can be scheduled at specific times, optimizing laboratory workflow and enabling the operator to always work in safe conditions.
